Some of the highlights include: pay attention to any evacuations in your area; Know if you are in an potential evacuation zone. Before you are in the middle of an evacuation, know your evacuation route, where you are going and be sure family and friends know your plan. Try to always have a full tank of gas, as soon as you are aware a storm is being watched in our area, tank up. To prepare your home, be ready to board up the windows if sustained winds of 70 mph or more are expected. Have a storm kit at home and be sure to include a portable radio with fresh batteries, extra batteries, some battery powered lanterns and flashlights. Keep your cell phone charged. While home be ready to wait out a storm in a center room with no windows. Have plenty of extra fresh water, water purification tablets and non-perishable foods on hand.
